Some fish in the Mermaid Fantasy Arcade Game come with features that reward the players who catch them, creating a greater element of challenge for players to enjoy. These include:
-King Fish - The King Fish is coloured dark red to stand out, and when players catch this fish it will automatically catch all the fish of the same species currently on the screen, and award the points to the player.
-Bomb Crab - The Bomb Crab will explode when caught, awarding all the points from fish caught in the explosion to the player.
-Drill Crab - The Drill Crab will award the player who catches it with a drill weapon. Players simply point and shoot the weapon, which will damge and/or catch fish as it ricochets around the screen.
